Sao Khuê 2021: TrueOrigin — keep believing

The core iSeal technology — an electronic seal that gives goods an identity — is honoured with the Sao Khuê 2021 award from VINASA.
TrueOrigin — keep believing
The Sao Khuê award is organised by VINASA to honour the strong growth of Vietnam's software and IT service businesses and industry.
After several demanding rounds of judging among thousands of nominations, iSeal — the electronic seal technology that gives goods an identity — won the Sao Khuê 2021 award.
Older traceability seal technologies cannot defeat counterfeiting: the anti-counterfeit seal itself is easy to copy.
The new iSeal technology makes traceability complete. The seal is not merely hard to copy — it can also detect that it has been copied.
The TrueOrigin product uses the core iSeal technology — an anti-counterfeit electronic identity seal — with these properties:
➩ A first: this is the first method able to detect automatically, on an ordinary handset, that a seal has been copied. No expert skill is needed — anyone, whatever their background, can check it easily.
➩ Fast: once a violation is found, the next step is to stop it. The strength of this system is that a violation is found "in one tap" and the parties concerned are notified almost immediately.
➩ Trustworthy: the digital signature is SHA512, the choice of algorithm is essentially unconstrained, and signing is done by the authentication council, so a cryptographic attack from outside is all but impossible.
➩ Foundational: in today's knowledge economy, extracting information from databases is indispensable. Highly reliable data leads to more accurate and more trustworthy analysis. A method of identifying objects as reliably as this invention is therefore a very basic foundation, from the first step, for building large databases and going on to use their information effectively.
➩ Transparent: the structure is a proof-of-authority blockchain in which the authenticating council consists of the parties whose interests are protected (the manufacturer, state regulators, monitoring systems), and information is shared between these nodes; events require the consensus of the nodes, from the issue of a seal to every event in the life of the object it is attached to. This differs completely from centralised data structures run by a single party. That is the strength of the blockchain algorithm and one of the main reasons we chose this structure.
➩ A tool: the user can check as many times as they like, including before buying. That is a strength one-time-code technology does not have. It also gives market regulators a new tool: they can check a product immediately without destroying it by scratching the seal.
➩ New added value: alongside its anti-counterfeit properties, the identity the technology confers lets manufacturers roll out a range of very useful value-added applications:
- Pre-sale customer care; for example, a book buyer can check the seal and read a few sample pages or the author's biography, information the system holds.
- After-sale customer care; for example, activating the warranty, periodic customer care, loyalty points, prize draws and so on.
➩ Widely applicable: with today's NFC seal manufacturing, the possible forms of a seal are very varied and can be attached to almost any physical object — from goods to documents of value (diplomas, land use certificates, savings books, staff cards, security access cards and so on) — in attractive ways, at a seal cost that is not too high, while adding many other strong properties.
➩ Common handsets: more than 80% of smartphones today can read and write NFC chips, which is a great advantage for this technology.
