STECH signs a design consulting contract with FPT for phase 2 of the RoutesKeeper project

On 12 October 2006, at the headquarters of the FTD Technology Development Centre, FPT Technology Investment Development Joint Stock Company and Smart Technology Joint Stock Company (STECH) signed a contract for phase 2 of the RoutesKeeper project.

Having completed the research and technology transfer for the STECH ARM-9-1 embedded computer, STECH went on to consult on and design the first-generation RoutesKeeper hardware for the FTD Technology Development Centre, part of FPT Technology Investment Development Joint Stock Company.

The PCB of the first-generation RoutesKeeper was developed from a reference schematic supported by Intel Corporation. Unused functional blocks — PCI and Utopia — were removed, and other features specific to a router were added: high-capacity NAND flash memory, ethernet switching and so on.

According to the online newspaper VnExpress, embedded systems in Vietnam have only recently begun to draw attention; there are very few embedded products "made in Vietnam", and to this day no technology of Vietnamese origin. It is fair to say that domestic IT companies have so far concentrated on contract manufacturing and outsourcing for large foreign firms. STECH is therefore proud to have worked with FPT to build a product that joins that short list.

We hope this partnership will produce Vietnamese products meeting international standards.
